My husband and I just acquired a new property in Palm Beach, Florida. It has a beautiful view to the ocean with a pool on the side of the beach. It has been abandoned for a few years by its former owner who was a business woman who traveled a lot. She last got a contract to stay in Bali for two years and she was thinking about moving to London after her contract was up. She knew she wouldn’t be back in Florida for a long time, and thus saw no use of the Palm Beach home anymore. However, we needed to get this place fixed up so it could be our vacation home. We have been working very hard for many years to build the wealth we have so far and I am finally starting
to see our work paying off. My husband and I were very behind in saving money the first years of our marriage. We were consumed by our monthly student loan bills which seemed to never go away. We held off on buying new cars or having kids because we knew that would put us even more behind. Our new home in Palm Beach seems like the ever-longing dream coming true. It is the material manifestation of our savings and I am very proud to have achieved it.
Nonetheless, we still have work to do, although there is no rush for it! (I keep telling myself this). Humans have a strong tendency to want immediate gratification. This makes us lose ourselves in an illusion that we can only be happy through the instant satisfaction of our five senses. Luckily, our partners at our home remodeling company have helped us enjoy this remodeling process so much that we do not feel like we must reach the end of the road to have fun.
